Stage Play Commemorates the 1921 Black Wall Street

In commemoration of the upcoming centennial of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, Greenwood Cultural Center presents a stage production: 1921 Black Wall Street An Artistic Reflection. This production invites the audience to experience through spoken word, dance and more, the 1921 Greenwood community known as Black Wall Street; viewing this important history through the lens of artistic reflection. Working collaboratively, local Tulsa writers, artists and performers, conceived, wrote, directed and produced this special work.

Entertainment Great for Families

Greenwood Cultural Center invites families to experience the stage production: 1921 Black Wall Street An Artistic Reflection. Families will enjoy the history of Black Wall Street through dance, spoken word and more. We invite you and your family to enjoy this special production made by the community for the community! Notice to parents: part of the production will showcase the events of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre in a non-gory portrayal. We invite you to visit the Greenwood Cultural Center website for lessons about Black Wall Street and the Massacre prior to attending the show, to prepare your children for what they will experience.   Click to read "Father is the World on Fire?", a poem written by one of the spoken word artists, Brianna Guice.
